Thank-you for your interest in supporting the Federation of BC Youth in Care Networks and young people in and from care from across British Columbia!
As you can imagine, in this time of cut-backs to social services there are a great many gaps needing to be filled if we, as a community, are going to meet the needs of young people in and from care in B.C. FBCYICN is working to address these issues as well as providing options for assisting us in this cause. We know it takes a village, but in practice, this is not something we do very well in British Columbia, Canada, and in many countries around the world. Donating to our education and training bursaries is one way to directly support our amazing and resilient young people to pursue the goals and dreams they have for themselves. At a time when young people are increasingly receiving financial, emotional and mentoring support from their families well into their 20s, youth who age out of care at 19 are expected to figure it all out on their own. Support from bursaries is one very meaningful way to help ease these transitions and remove barriers to their success and well-being.
