Greeter for SCM 75

Volunteer Category: Fed Member (14-24), Youth in and from care(14-24), Fed Alumni (25+)

Description: We are looking for friendly and energetic members to greet participants as they arrive on Friday for the Steering Committee Meeting (SCM), and help us get organized and ready!  As a SCM Greeter, you are the lead in making sure new participants feel comfortable and welcomed at the start of their SCM experience!  Other responsibilities include organizing SCM supplies.

*You must be registered and approved to attend a Steering Committee Meeting in order to do this volunteer opportunity.*

Dates: October 19-21, 2018

Time Commitment:  11:30am -2:45pm Friday October 192018 and 1:00pm-2:00pm Sunday October 212018

Supervising Staff: Shannon Dolton, Engagement Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

Friday:

  • Greeting SCM participants when they arrive at the Fed office, asking them to sign-in and have their medication handy to turn in, informing them where to put their luggage,  
  • Introducing new members / youth to staff and other members present at the SCM
  • Checking-in with participants and making sure they are included and feeling comfortable
  • Role model, informing staff of any problems / issues that come up
  • Help run energizers with Extreme Team

Sunday:

  • Organizing and packing up supplies at the end of the SCM
  • Loading vans with supplies to be brought back to the office
  • Cleaning up camp before departing
  • Role model , informing staff of any problems / issues that come up

Skills/Knowledge we’re looking for:

  • Reliable
  • Responsible
  • Effective and clear communicator
  • Leadership and knowledge of FBCYICN and SCM

What you’ll get:

  • Up to 7 hours towards volunteer honorarium for youth volunteers (Every 20 hours, receive $100)
  • More knowledge of the SCM planning/procedure
  • Provincial recognition in our Power Pages magazine
  • Letter of reference if requested
