Holiday Dinner Grants Selection Committee

Deadline to Respond: Friday, November 24 at 4:00pm

We are looking for 1 youth member and 1 alumni to sit on a Selection Committee.  The Committee will be responsible for choosing successful applicants for our Holiday Dinner Grant with our community partners.  The grant offers financial support of up to $500 to community groups throughout BC who are interested in hosting a holiday-themed dinner for youth in and from care between 14 – 24 years old. Please note that if we have enough grants available for all applicants, the selection committee will not meet.

Start Date: Monday, November 27 End Date: Friday, December 1
Time Commitment: 2 hours for a mandatory meeting in the week of November 27 - December 1, and 2 hours to review applications prior to meeting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and review applications
  • Pick up applications on Friday November 24th 2017
  • Evaluate applications based on a set criteria
  • Attend a MANDATORY meeting in the week of November 27 - December 1
  • Work with other Committee members to select successful applicants
  • Keep strict confidentiality during and after process

Skills/Knowledge we’re looking for: 

  •  Reading and Comprehension 
  • Evaluate fairly and without bias
  • Ability to deal with conflict
  • Ability to keep STRICT confidentiality

What you’ll get:

  • Volunteer hours counted towards honorarium (every 20 hours, receive $100)

  • Invitation to Volunteer Appreciation Event

  • Letter of reference if requested
