FBCYICN staff members are responsible for maintaining and overseeing FBCYCIN programs and services. All staff members support FBCYICN mission and values and its role in supporting youth (14 , 24) in and from government care. They must be knowledgeable about issues facing youth in and from care and committed to on-going and long-term support for these young people.
Our staff team and contract staff are made up of individuals who are each passionate and knowledgeable about the issues facing young people in/from care in BC who bring a variety of professional skill sets to the table.
Because of the Network’s fundamental and unique commitment to supporting youth in and from government care, in-care experience will be an asset for most positions in the organization.

Youth Intern
We are pleased to announce that we are currently hiring a Youth Intern to start August 13 2012. This position is available for any young person aged 16 – 24 who are in or from government care in BC. The successful candidate will develop core competencies (skills and knowledge) needed for most non-profit jobs, as well as, an opportunity to learn about the programs and services at the FBCYICN through job shadowing. The successful applicant will work with each staff member for a period of 1-3 weeks to learn about what they do, why they do it and how they do it. In addition, the successful applicant will participate in a series of workshops to build their competencies and be provided opportunities and resources for individual growth and development.
This Internship position is part of a longer-term work experience whereby the Intern may continue on as a Program Assistant for an additional 6 months and then as Junior Coordinator for an additional 1 year. There is a selection process to continue on to each new position but you may also choose to not complete the entire work experience. The total potential length of this work experience is 2 years.
Position Description – Youth Intern
Youth Conference Coordinator
We are pleased to announce that we are currently hiring a Youth Conference Coordinator to start August 13 2012. This position is available for any young person aged 16 – 24 who are in or from government care in BC. The Youth Conference Coordinator position offers an excellent opportunity to develop facilitation, event coordination and leadership skills. The successful applicant will assist in supporting a team of their peers to organize and implement Steering Committee Meetings (SCMS) for youth in and from care 14 – 24 from across BC. SCM’s happen 3 times a year and they are a place where young people and supportive adults come together in a fun, informative and safe environment.
SCM Activities include: workshops, crafting, outdoor activities, meeting other young people and supportive adults, participating in different kinds of workshops, providing input and feedback around needs, issues and ideas facing youth in care, and directing the work of the Federation of BC Youth in Care Networks.
