MC's for November Youth Retreat

We are looking for Youth MC's to host our Youth Retreat (SCM#74) from November 3-5, 2017 at Evans Lake in Squamish, B.C.  As an MC, your role is to help young people create and understand the common purpose and goals of coming together, keep everyone on track, provide opportunities for them to share knowledge, create space for everyone to be heard and included, and remain neutral in discussions (not taking sides).   *You must be registered and approved to attend the retreat AND attend the MC meetings in order to do this volunteer opportunity*

*You must be able to attend the retreat from November 3-5, 2017
*Position may carry over to next retreat*
*Must have attended at least 1 retreat (SCM) and attend an upcoming training meeting.

Start Date: Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 End Date: Sunday, November 5, 2017
Time Commitment: Approximately 2hrs a week + SCM = Approximately 50hrs in total

Skills/Knowledge we’re looking for:
  • Have attended at least one retreat
  • Ability and interest in public speaking
  • Reliability, commitment, and follow through
  • Respect and understanding of diversity
  • Facilitation Experience or Training
Training provided and required:

1.5 hour mandatory MC Orientation Meeting 
0.5 hours prep meeting with supervising staff
0.5 hours debrief and evaluation

  • Provincial recognition (i.e. in our provincial youth in care magazine called Power Pages) and at the SCM
  • Volunteer hours counted towards an honorarium (every 20 hours, receive $100)
  • Invitation to our annual Volunteer Celebration in February 2016
  • Invitations to higher level workshop facilitation positions
  • Reference letter if requested
