Volunteers Needed - Outreach Group Members

At the Fed, we believe that everyone has an important voice that needs to be heard.  Our Outreach Group is a program where young people gain confidence expressing their voice through public speaking opportunities around the Lower Mainland. Outreach Group members learn how to conduct engaging presentations for a variety of audiences, and get the opportunity to practice and build their skills at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team of youth, alumni, and staff members 
  • Attend a mandatory orientation training 
  • Learn FBCYICN Key Messages and Key Issues 
  • Attend 1 meeting per month 
  • Deliver and or attend up to 2 presentations per month 
  • Share ideas and input on Fed brand and promotional materials

Skills/Knowledge we’re looking for: 

  • Reliability and punctuality 
  • Creativity and vision 
  • Public speaking and facilitation experience/skills 
  • Understanding and passion for FBCYICN, the issues impacting youth in and from care in BC, and an eagerness to raise awareness about both 
  • Ability to engage diverse groups in a tactful, friendly, and professional way 
  • Willingness to grow and improve skills

Training provided and required:

  • MANDATORY orientation training 
  • Ongoing development of presentation/facilitation skills

What you’ll get:

  • $100 honourarium for each 20 hours completed as an OG 
  • Facilitation and presentation experience

  • Recognition in our provincial youth in care magazine called Power Pages and at our annual Volunteer Celebration
