BC Tuition Waiver Announcement

On September 1, Premier Horgan and Minister of Advanced Education, Melanie Mark announced that all 25 of BC’s public post-secondary institutions would provide free tuition for youth in and from care.

This is exciting news, and it was especially exciting to see Fed member, Ruby Barclay, stand up and speak passionately to the assembled group including politicians, media, community allies and youth in and from care about the power of education in her life and the lives of other young people:

“The biggest learning from my time at Vancouver Island University has been that I have the chance to thrive and talk about future, to have a purpose and to have a choice in what my story is and who I am.”

Way to go Ruby!
