See You Around from Brittaney
Hi Fed Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that in a weeks’ time I will be leaving my position as Operations Manager at the Fed. As I look back on my time it’s been quite the journey over three years and I’m so grateful for it all. The members made it all worth it. The highs, the lows, and the in-betweens – the young people have been, and will remain, the inspiration for the Fed’s work and the work that is yet to come in my future. Thank you for teaching me, for challenging me, for laughing with and at me, and for lighting a fire in me that I didn’t know existed until my time here.
Change is healthy – it doesn’t always feel good at the time, but it helps us to build up resiliency in ourselves and acceptance towards others. It’s certainly been challenging to accept the reality of not working here anymore. I hold a great deal of respect and care for the youth in care community and I only wish for you all to thrive in your environments, to feel happiness and love, and for you all to know how much you matter.
It’s been a pleasure and a highlight of my career to have worked with BC’s young people, the staff team(s), community partners, the board and allies of this movement.
I wanted to leave you all with a little quote that made me thing of the Fed’s members…
“You know how every once in a while you do something and the little voice inside says, ‘There. That’s it. That’s why you’re here.’ …and you get a warm glow in your heart because you know it’s true? Do more of that.” –Jacob Nordby
