Position: Youth Activator - BCCYICW

Location: Remote, with some in person work in the lower mainland

Summary: As peer-based* contractors, Youth Activators use their skills and lived expertise to support our programs and services. Youth Activators are generally focused on a specific program, project, or event. This may include planning events and activities, facilitating workshops and hosting gatherings, and engaging peers and partners.

We are currently looking for Youth Activators to help lead our 2025 BC Child and Youth in Care Week (BCCYICW) activities. Youth in and from care advocated for this week so their care siblings could grow up feeling celebrated. They also wanted to raise awareness about the barriers they face and fight the stigma that comes with being a “foster kid.”

*Peer Based is defined as youth in and from care between the ages of 14 and 28.

Compensation: Youth Activators are independent contractors and will charge $50 per hour for a maximum of 30 hours. Total max compensation would be $1500.

Orientation

Individual Check-In's – 1 hour sometime between Nov 4-8, 2024

Full Day Virtual Orientation – November 16, 2024 from 10am-3pm

Individual Check-In's – 1 hour sometime between April 8-12, 2025

BCCYICW 2025 Planning – November 19, 2024 at 10am

Supporting BCCYICW Activities – January 14, 2025 at 10am

Final Prep for BCCYICW – May 27, 2025 at 10am

Debrief about the Week – June 10, 2025 at 10am

Working Groups

Approximately up to 12 1-hour meetings scheduled from December 2024 to May 2025

Recognition Awards

Build Day (IN PERSON) - May 22, 2025 9:30am-4:30pm

Kick Off Celebration Event

Virtual Kick Off Celebration – June 2, 2025 from 6-7pm

Qualifications: If you do not currently have the training qualifications outlined in the position description there will be an opportunity to complete self-directed training modules. All qualifications must be completed by January 2025. Successful candidates must already have a clear CRC with a vulnerable sector check.
