Program Support – Holiday Care Kit Build Youth Volunteers 

We are looking for 15-20 people to help us build our Holiday Care Kits! The winter season can be a difficult time for many, why not be a small part of reminding youth in and from care across BC that they are not alone. You will help to set up, organize, build, and package Holiday Care Kits that will be shipped across the province. This opportunity includes physical elements like repetitive motions, lifting items up to 20lbs, and turning/twisting and bending. 

Start Date: Dec 4, 2023 
End Date: Dec 4, 2023 
Time Commitment: 11:00am to 3:00pm (4 hours with flexibility to do more or less if needed) 

Where: Venue in New Westminster *Please note – volunteers must be able to get themselves to and from the venue in New Westminster 
Training: Hands on training and orientation   
  
Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift items up to 20lbs. 

  • Ability to do repetitive tasks with your hands. 

  • Ability to bend/twist and turn repeatedly. 

  • Completed Media Consent form (both to give or not to give consent) 

What you will receive: 

  • Lunch and snacks 

  • Transit tickets  

  • Volunteer hours towards an honorarium 

  • Recognition in our next issue of Power Pages 

  • Recognition at our Fed Family Summer Celebration 2024

Program Support – Dream Fund Selection Committee

We are looking for 2 youth members, and 1 Alumni to join the committee. No previous experience is necessary! As a committee, you will be responsible for recommending successful applicants for our Dream Fund Bursaries (Education Achievement Bursary and Reach for Success Bursary), both of which provide financial support ($$$) to young people interested in career training and/or education opportunities.     

 Important Note:  

The subject matter discussed in the application forms can be triggering for some. We encourage selection committee members to use self-care when evaluating applications and to connect with Taylor at any point for support when needed.  

Start Date: October 10, 2023 
End Date: October 12, 2023 
Time Commitment: 5-6 hours.

Program Support – Set Up Crew  

We are looking for volunteers to be part of the set-up crew for our youth retreat. This is a physically demanding job so you will need to be able to lift items that weigh 20-25 pounds. 
 
The set-up crew will head to the youth retreat earlier than other campers. They will set-up common areas, unpack equipment, and post signages.

End Date: Friday, November 3
Time Commitment: 1.5 hours

Program Support – Youth Retreat Photographers  

We are looking for photographers for our youth retreat. No experience required! Photographers will document the event by taking photos of attendees and activities during the youth retreat.  

Photographers will be assigned 1 or 2 events to photograph during the youth retreat. Camera will be provided by the Fed.

Program Support – Membership Kits 

We are looking for a youth volunteer to support the building of our Fed Membership Welcome Kits. Our welcome kits are an important way that we connect with new Fed Members across the province.

Each kit is hand packaged and addressed and includes a welcome note, Power Pages, a Fed notebook, Membership Pins and more.

Start Date: Ongoing

End Date: Ongoing

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours

Where: Fed Office – New Westminster (Volunteer is responsible for getting to and from Fed office)

Training: Hands on training at the Fed Office
