Our mission is to improve the lives of youth in and from care in BC. To achieve this, we must actively dismantle the racist practices that have led to an overrepresentation of Indigenous young people in government care. Our work is deeply rooted in advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Build a more just and equitable society
  • Support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action
  • Uphold the rights of Indigenous peoples as defined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
  • Hold our governments accountable to the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
  • Build respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples and actively work towards reconciliation
  • Honour Indigenous knowledge, culture, and perspectives
  • Understand the history of Indigenous peoples and the impacts of colonialism
  • Decolonize our practices
  • Be held accountable while we learn, un-learn and fail forward

The Fed office is located on the lands of the Qayqayt, xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. We honour these lands, the people who have cared for them, and the rich history of this place.
